A promotional photo I took for the company's release article.
I was approached in late March by the team at Yacht Club Games, hoping to create an exciting addition to their April Fools Day campaign. After speaking with them I determined what they wanted was rather complex in the time frame, but offered to take on the added responsibility to do what felt best for the characters and fanbase. To meet that challenge I created a full fledged Class and bonus materials.
As someone who streamed Dungeons & Dragons in my spare time, I talked a lot about the design of the game, and champion it as a form of prototyping systems. I took this as a chance to extend myself, writing public-facing documentation that had to exist beyond my involvement.
It was an incredible opportunity to work on an IP that continues to be an indie darling and a huge responsibility. For this project I worked fully remote and tracked hours independently but had met with the team previously and ran tabletop sessions for staff. I felt happy knowing I was able to release the best possible product in the time I had available.
Fan feedback on the project was incredibly positive, with several hobbyists making videos talking about bringing the expansion to their own tables.

Many of the art and visual assets were re-purposed based on resources available at the project's inception. The only original graphic is the 1d6 above Shovel Knight's head on the second page.
